Spring is finally here! It felt like winter weather just wouldn’t quit, but neither did our hardworking Public Works Crews who stayed busy keeping the streets and alleys plowed for our residents and those traveling through our village. They worked long hours in challenging conditions, and they deserve a big “thank you”. I want to express my thanks to those of you who moved your vehicles so our crews could plow the streets. It was important that we all worked together to keep our roads open and passable for emergency vehicles and plow trucks. I would also like to thank our dedicated members of the Police and Fire Departments for their service and assistance during the winter months. While many of us had the luxury of staying indoors during severe winter storms, our First Responders are out on patrol and answering calls regardless of the season.
As we look to the warmer months ahead, I am pleased to say that we will be having some of our spring and summer events. Hopefully, we are entering the final stages of the pandemic. We are encouraged by the number of Covid-19 cases going down. As the vaccine rollout amplifies, we still have a way to go before we are back to 100%. To be safe we will continue to follow the CDC guidelines of wearing masks and social distancing at the Village Hall and at spring/summer events. If there is another spike in Covid-19 positive cases, we might have to consider canceling our scheduled events, but we certainly hope not.
Village Hall re-opened to the public on April 5th. We will continue with modified business hours of 10am- 3pm thru the month of April, and in May we will resume regular business hours with extended hours during vehicle sticker sales.
I am so proud to be serving as Mayor of the Village of Stickney for a second term. Everything we are doing could not be done without our committed Village Officials, staff, and you, the supportive residents. We will continue to work hard for the entire community. Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Mayor another four years.
