When Permits and Licenses are Required

Permits are required on all improvements made to buildings and properties including, but not limited to the following:

  • All new construction

  • Building – new or remodeling

  • Concrete

  • Decks

  • Electrical

  • Elevators/Escalators

  • Fences

  • Home improvements – gutters, siding, roof, doors, windows, kitchen, bathroom etc.

  • HVAC

  • Pools

  • Plumbing

  • Satellite antennas

  • Sheds/garages

Any Contractor performing work must be licensed, bonded and insured in the Village of Stickney. The property owner is responsible for acquiring a permit when required. A signed contract must be submitted.

Permits are also required for:

  • Garage Sales

  • Handbill Distribution and Soliticatiors

Licenses are required for numerous businesses and activities.
These are examples of some licenses:

  • All Building Trades

  • Amusement Devices and Machines

  • Amusement and Athletic Events

  • Animals (Dogs and Cats)

  • Barber shops and Beauty salons

  • Grocery stores and meat markets

  • Liquor stores or stores selling liquor

  • Rubbish and garbage removal

  • Restaurants
