Garbage Recycling and Yard Waste

Trash Service

Garbage, Recycling and Yard Waste Pick-Up is now being handled by Waste Management over three days, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Residents will receive weekly pick up service between 6:00am and 6:00pm on your scheduled day. Separate trucks will pick up your garbage, recycling and yard waste, so your materials may be picked up at different times during your pick up day. (see zone map)

  • Make sure your containers are out at the curb or in the alley no later than 6:00am on your pick up day.

  • Place your containers with the handle facing away from the curb or alley, 3 feet apart.

  • Remove your containers no later than 7:00pm on the day of your pick up.

If your container is damaged, broken or stolen, please call Waster Management a 800-964-8988. Residents will use your current 96-gallon garbage container. Additional garbage must be placed in a separate rigid container with handles that does not exceed 32-gallons. Do not place garbage bags on the ground.

Recycling

Residents will use your 64-gallon covered recycling container. You can no longer use the blue bin for recycling.

  • Do not put recyclables in plastic bags – empty recyclables directly into your cart.

  • Do not recycle loose plastic bags – please take loose plastic bags back to local retailers.

  • Containers that held food should be rinsed and free of food debris.

Yard Waste

  • Yard waste, such as grass clippings, leaves, tree branches (less than 3 inches in diameter) is collected from April 1 through November 30.

  • Yard waste must be placed in biodegradable brown paper bags or containers with handles clearly identified with a sticker that says "yard waste only" not to exceed 32-gallons in size and 50lbs in weight. "Yard waste only" stickers are available at the Village Hall.

  • Branches must be cut into 4 foot lengths and bundled with string or twine. Bundles must not exceed 3 feet in length or 50lbs in weight. Unbundled branches will not be collected.

  • Sod, dirt, rocks and stumps are not accepted in the yard waste program.

Special Pickup - White Goods and Bulk Items

Items such as stove, refrigerator, dish washer, dryer, washing machine and electronics such as TV’s, computers do require a special pick up. If you have any of these items you need to dispose of you can call the Village Hall at 708-749-4400 to be put on a list for a special pick up. Special pickups will be done on Fridays. Please do not put anything out until the evening before it is scheduled to be picked up.

Billing

Residents will continue to be billed for your garbage, recycling and yard waste pick up on a bi-monthly basis.

Observed Holidays

Waste Management only observes the following holidays. When your weekly pick up day falls on or after one of these holidays, your service will be delayed one day during that week only.
